Summary: | "Las luchas sociales en el pueblo de Cuetzala" (The social fights in the town of Cuetzala) is the name of the mural painted by Antonio Pujol and José Antonio Gómez Rosas "Hotentote", in 1939, in the walls of the Public School of Cuetzala del Progreso, in the State of Guerrero. However, it their names are hardly mentioned. This apparent oblivion or deliberate concealment encloses a series of personal and social, national, local and international stories. This book is an interesting dialogue between images and the themes embodied in the mural; the Revolution, the Cardenismo, the Agrarian Reform, the Socialist education, the Communist Party as well as paths of life and profession of the main characters and painters. This research is the result of inquire into a collection of oral histories - thanks to the versions of two witnesses memories - and forgotten documents in files. The proposed objective is the same of the mural: a historiographic and visual reading of the struggle of an entire town.
