Description
Summary:This detailed study of the north coast of Michoacan in Mexico derives from a project begun in 1994 which sought to identify and define the different cultures of the area in the prehispanic period. This volume describes the physical characteristics of the Michoacan area, followed by the sites that were identified, their location and the finds that were made during excavation. Evidence of ceramics, lithics, shell and metal objects, human remains, wood and evidence for salt production are examined and the data is presented in tabular form. Conclusions on the chronology of the sites, evidence for cultural continuity and the identification of distinct types of domestic sites and ceremonial centres are reached. Spanish text.
